Car:

The easiest and quickest route from Athens to Monemvasia is via the highway A7 to Corinth and Tripoli. At Tripoli you take the direction for Sparta (follow the sign "Sparta No toll road) and after Sparta, follow the signs for Monemvasia. Once in Monemvasia, drive through the new town over the bridge and you will reach the gate of the legendary Casle Town. Likinia Hotel lies within Monemvasia Castle, and it's located on Chrysafitissa Square, at the southeastern end of the walled citadel, just above the sea walls. The distance from Athens is approx. 300 km., total driving time +/- 3,5 hours.

Another option is after Corinth to take the picturesque road along the coast through Argos, Astros, and Leonidio continuing through mountain roads passing the traditional villages of Kosmas and Geraki. Follow through to Skala, Vlachiotis, Molai and finally Monemvasia. This option is considerably longer through winding mountain roads (aprox. 330 km - 5 hours from Athens) but well worth the reward, with breathtaking natural beauty of both sea views, canyon passes and the mountainous landscape.

For visitors coming by car through Italy and the port of Patra, the distance from the port of Patra is also around 300 km and takes 3,5 hours. Leaving Patra on the way to Athens, you will turn just before Corinth to take the highway to Tripoli and upon reaching Tripoli, you will need to turn to Sparta (follow the sign "Sparta - No toll road"), from where there is continuous signaling for Monemvasia. Again, most of the distance and more specifically from Patra till Tripoli is a highway (approx.180 km).
